« RWS 850 Re-visited | Main | You Used an Airgun for What? »

Video Resources from AirgunDepot

Another one of the great resources that Airgun Depot provides are videos of selected airguns being reviewed. This is a great advantage over simply reading about an airgun....you can see it in use, complete with commentary from the reviewer!

In AirgunDepot's video reviews you will find the following airguns reviewed:

Crosman Quest Storm XT

EAA Baikal Drozd

Gamo's Varmint Hunter

Gamo Viper Express Shotgun

RWS/Hammerli 850 Magnum

In addition to the above airguns reviewed on video, Gamo's Moving Target is also reviewed.

Now you have the benefit of seeing the guns actually being used in order to give you a better idea of their functioning, firing habits, accuracy potential, and loudness of report. Seeing a potential purchase in use is just one more way of assisting you in your buying decisions, and AirgunDepot goes the extra step in trying to show you the many features of the airguns in their line-up.

Your feedback would be great in deciding which reviews make it into the video area, so if there is a particular airgun you would like to see reviewed, don't hesitate to drop a line to the great folks at AirgunDepot with your choice.  And before you leave the website today, take a stroll through the bargain basement and featured items links.

Randy ,

can you do a review of a gamo extreme and a patriot to compare them on all aspects ?

I purchased a gamo hunter 1000 that has the scope mounted on the breach, and a single cock barrel. After accurately firing about 100 shots where I could place 5 shots inside a 1" circle at 75 feet, accurace dissappeared completely. Gun was returned to Gamo under warranty and repaired, and was again able to place about 150 shots inside a 1" circle.
After shooting a can of 177 Caliber pellets, I was lucky to keep the shots within a two foot circle.
Than I found that by placing the barrel on a rest, not the forstock, my accurace returned.

This leads me to believe that the barrel-cock style single pump gun has a fault of the "O" ring seal and locking clamp not holding the breac alignment and the pellet firing bore is the same line.
The sighting and the barrel will not maintain the same path of alignment- thus a serious flaw in the Gamo design.

I have wiped off any lead residue, kept oiled, wiped dry, tried various mecanical tests but still the accuracy cannot be maintained unless resting the end of the barrel on a object. Neither can I free hand shoot holding the forward stock because o barrel droop, thus not being able to hit diddly with the gun.

What must be done to maintain accuracy while shooting. Is this a continued flaw in Gamo rifles that requires me to use a rigid style gun for accuracy?

Thank you
Dave Walton

Dave,
First let me apologize for not responding. Your comment got lost in limbo somewhere, and we have just discovered several comments that should have been posted long ago.

Having the breech and barrel line-up consistently is a problem that I personally haven't run across yet. But I've heard of some who have had the problem, and returning the barrel to the firing position with a firm hand was the only thing they could think of doing other than returning the gun to the manufacturer, which you've already done. If the problem persists, I would take a look at another model that may be less prone to experience that problem.
